Here are 15 Easy Ways to Use Hydrosols on a regular basis.
- When making creams, lotions, perfumes or colognes use a hydrosol, or combination of hydrosols instead of water in your recipe.
- Need cooling down? Whether it's because the weather is hot outside, or you're experiencing a 'hot flash' or because of a fever, spraying with a cooling hydrosol like Peppermint is very effective.
- Need refreshing? Try Rose.
- Need waking up? Try Peppermint or Rosemary.
- Instead of using a store bought skin toner, spray on a hydrosol before applying any make up. Rose is good for all skin types, Neroli is good for combination and sensitive skin types, Lavender is good for normal and sensitive skin types, Chamomile is good for dry, sensitive and inflamed skin, Witch Hazel is an astringent and ideally suited for oily skins. Rose Geranium is my own favorite and is a good all-round choice for most everyone as it is balancing and adaptogenic for oily, dry, acne and sensitive skins.
- Looking for a refreshing night's sleep? Spray Lavender or Roman Chamomile on the pillows and sheets before going to bed.
- Face needs moisturizing or hydrating? Spritz on your chosen hydrosol and immediately feel refreshed.
- No time to shampoo your hair? Mist your hair, then comb and you're ready to go.
- Too much sun? Spray Lavender hydrosol on the affected areas and experience immediate relief.
- Eyes feeling a little tired. Pour a little Roman Chamomile or Green Myrtle hydrosol on a cotton pad and apply the relaxing eye pads.
- Feeling stressed out? Calm down by spraying a relaxing hydrosol like Lavender, Rose, Geranium or Roman Chamomile.
- Spritz your linen with your favorite hydrosol for a nice fresh smell.
- Been bitten my mosquitoes, horse flies or other insect bites? Spray with Melissa hydrosol to relive the itch and calm the inflammation.
- Add Rosemary hydrosol to shampoos or conditions to promote healthy, shiny hair.
- Hydrosols work very well as compresses as well. They would be chosen depending on their desired action.
