Bringing in the Light with Essential Oils

Once again it's raining!!  Lately we have been getting so much rain, granted it is interspersed with some sunshine just to remind us of what that looks like, but then it's back to rain again.

There are times when I just love the rain and how it clears everything out, feeds the earth and makes everything feel fresh and new.  And then there are the times when if feels like its always raining and the sky is dreary. I think its time for an essential oil synergy to bring back the light and lift my spirits regardless of what is going on outside.

So what to put in my synergy:
Grapefruit:  This essential oil is one of my favorites and always lifts my spirits.  In Spiritual PhytoEssencing, grapefruit is associated with the anthroposophical concept of a “light organism”. According to Dr. Berkowsky’s Synthesis Materia Medica/Spiritualis of Essential Oils:

This refers to an internalized spiritual light body (in contrast to external light) which makes inner soul life possible. Internalized light acts as a beacon to the spirit, guiding it into the darkness of the metabolic processes and allowing it to permeate them, thus, establishing a connection between the spirit and the substances of the body.

Lavender: In Spiritual PhytoEssencing, Lavender is considered to be the Great Balancer, however it also has the theme of overcoming "stuckness".  (Great for me being 'stuck' in having had enough rain, instead of seeing the benefits and pleasure it can bring, no matter how long it lasts!)

Silver Fir:  In Spiritual PhytoEssencing, Silver Fir has a dynamic relationship to light metabolism that makes it unique among the conifer oils. Silver fir, largely because of its relationship to light, is considered to be one of the primary oils for the pineal gland. Dr. Berkowsky suggests that Silver Fir essential oil should be considered as an adjunct in the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). So perfect for the grey weather!

And there I have my synergy for the day, or if the weather continues for the next few days:  Grapefruit 5 drops, Lavender 3 drops, Silver Fir 3 drops.  Just a few sniffs and the world looks brighter.  I love essential oils and their ability to instantly shift my mood with just a few sniffs.
