On a subtle level German Chamomile can promote a feeling of being at peace with yourself. It can also help to transform negative feelings of self-disgust, anger, loneliness, abandonment and grief into more positive ones. German Chamomile has been found to have a calming and balancing effect on the emotions. It also supports one in being able to calmly and clearly speak one's truth without anger, harmful ego or animosity.
Dr. Berkowsky, in Berkowsky’s Synthesis Materia Medica/Spiritualis of Essential Oils says of German Chamomile:
Matricaria derives from the Latin word for womb, and, in some ways, the action of chamomile is reminiscent of warm, buffering amniotic fluid. The German word for chamomile translates as “mother herb,” and, here again, one senses chamomile’s moderation-through-nurturing character.
Jennifer Jefferies in her Aromatherapy Insight Cards says:
German Chamomile is for LETTING GO.Did you know...
To be used for breaking negative patterns and releasing old habits that are not working for one. Chamomile is essential for removing life's limitations.
During the Middle Ages, Europeans scattered chamomile flowers on their floors? Stepping on the flowers released a sweet fragrance into the atmosphere.
Chamomile was said to possess the power to replenish a person’s energy when they were confronted with adversity.
Precautions: Tested at low doses it has been found to be non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing. Skin sensitivity can occur in some people.
Caution: This is a highly odoriferous oil so it is suggested that one use it sparingly in synergies otherwise it can tend to overwhelm other oils blended with it.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Noradrenaline and serotonin reuptake inhibitors have been proven to be effective in some cases of ADHD. In this open trial, Matricaria chamomilla, a serotonin and noradrealine reuptake inhibitor, actually used as an antidepressant, has been checked for this indication. METHOD: Three 14-16-year-old male psychiatric outpatients, diagnosed with attention-deficit disorder (ADHD) have been rated at baseline and while taking Matricaria chamomilla to determine its efficacy as a treatment for ADHD. Improvement was valuated using comparisons of Conners' parent ratings. RESULTS: Patients' mean scores improved for Conners' hyperactivity, inattention and immaturity factors. CONCLUSIONS: Although the sample size is very small and therefore generalization is very difficult, this observation indicates that Matricaria chamomilla might be a slightly effective treatment also for ADHD.
